Quality Standards
To live up to our position as an industry leader. And to ensure the upholding of our high quality standards, our products are continuously tested in our in-house laboratory with regard to the following properties:
Medical properties with regard to dimensions, thickness, wall thickness distribution, pretreatment, opacity, tensile strength, expansion, dart drop,
coefficient of friction, modulus of elasticity, seal seam strength, etc.
Physical properties with regard to water vapor permeability (MVTR)
Visual properties with regard to gloss, cloudiness, transparency
Analytical properties with regard to the raw material composition and quality using the DSC (Differential Scanning Calorimetry) and FTIR (infrared) processes
In addition to certification within the framework of the ISO 9001 quality management system and the HACCP hygiene quality system, the auditing for the EN ISO 15593 in April 2011 has also been successfully completed.
Environmental Resposibility
Unterland takes its duty of active participation in maintaining the environment very seriously and views this as a continuous process requiring constant attention and extending beyond the legally mandated requirements.
We consider the efficient and economical management of raw materials and resources as an indispensable part of maintaining the environment and securing our future.
Because films made of polyolefins are a thermoplastic material, they can be reprocessed into new products. This allows waste arising in the film production as well as any film scraps to be returned to the material cycle after reprocessing in the in-house recycling plant. If it can no longer be used at the end of the recycling chain, the material still represents a valuable fuel with a high thermal value corresponding roughly to that of hard coal. Incineration of polyolefins result in the release of carbon dioxide and water vapor and no harmful nitrous oxides! In the area of resource utilization, the cooling water used is also retreated before being released.
The energy released within the framework of the extrusion process is captured close to the ceiling and reused through corresponding heat recovery systems to heat the supply air for the hall, the thermal area and the extrusion area.
Environmental protection also requires new ways of thinking. On the search for alternative raw material possibilities, our efforts are increasingly directed toward biological films, for example with a starch base, that can be composted.
Our environmental responsibility in the broad sense also applies to the working environments of our employees. For example current internal projects involve the further improvement of noise protection as well as room air and exhaust air.
Optimization of the working and room climate also results from constant innovations in production plants and processes.
